ACTFL is dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. We've initiated partnership  with ACTFL in development of standardized  and nationally recognized Bulgarian language proficiency tests for our heritage students.


The National Coalition of Community-Based Heritage Language Schools -  a nationwide initiative established to support, guide, and promote the interests of community-based heritage language schools and organizations across the United States.

Seal of Biliteracy.png

Seal of Biliteracy, so our teens across the country can receive the Seal of Biliteracy award in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in Bulgarian by high school graduation.

Global Seal of Biliteracy, which complements and supports the individual state Seals of Biliteracy available to the community-based partner schools of ABSA.


  • Partnership established in 2022 to present


In 2022, the AUBG’s Civic Medal of Honor has been awarded to Liliana Dave, a student at Botev Academy, Washington D.C., who has demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in leadership, academic pursuits and engagement with her school community. Liliana has been awarded $20,000 in merit scholarship for the full course of study at AUBG.


ABSA is partnering with VFU to offer:

- Certificate of Bulgarian language proficiency for academic purposes to use in the Republic of Bulgaria.

- An additional professional qualification "TEACHER of ....".

- Professional development of teachers, head teachers and other pedagogical specialists.
